Does DC have more or less resistance that AC in wires?

DC actually passes though wires with less resistance than AC.  AC power tends to run along the outer skin of the wire, while DC flows through the entire cross section of the copper.  Higher Voltage=Lower Current for the same Power delivered.  AC was great 100 years ago before we had transistors and power electronics and a big Iron ring with wire wrapped at different ratios could step voltage up or down.  Today, switchmode power regulators do this at a higher efficiency and with less loss than AC transformers.  Read about “HVDC” to see how the highest power connections are made–all using DC.
